EU-JordanNet Events
Thematic "Partner Days" will be organised for each of the three selected thematic areas. These are 3-day events, built around the 3 main aims of this objective:
-
Day 1: Creating Awareness of the possibilities of R&D Cooperation in FP7: overview of the Thematic Area;
understanding the philosophy of collaborative projects, the funding mechanisms, and the structure of proposals and projects.
-
Day 2: Training on Proposal Writing. This day aims at understanding how to turn an idea into a proper proposal, meeting the objectives
described in the workprogramme. It focuses on Proposal Objectives, Proposal Workplan, defining roles of partners, and Impact.
-
Day 3: Creating Partnerships. The last day is a brokerage-type of event aiming at establishing concrete contacts between Jordanians and Europeans.
For this purpose European researchers in the selected Thematic Area will be invited to Jordan. The state-of-the-art in the field will be discussed
with particular reference to the workprogrammes and current calls of the Thematic Areas. New proposal ideas are expected to emerge, forming the basis
of new proposals.
The preparation of these events will be done in close cooperation with the relevant universities and private industry in Jordan to ensure
that their needs and interests are met.
As an incentive study visits to EU Member States will be offered to some researchers in order to deepen their links with potential EU partners and to
jointly develop FP7 proposals. This activity is planned in co-operation with the SRTD project that has specific funds available for such visits.
Also the attendance at EU Information Days or Brokerage Events is envisaged through this activity.
The Training of Administrator addresses the NCP staff and the various Information Focal Points that have been created in Jordan. The focus will be on the structural,
procedural and administrative aspects of the FP7 Programme as well as on project management, financial and contractual issues for FP7 projects.
Practical workshops will be conducted in the computer labs at the Royal Scientific Society to train the participants in project negotiation, financial and
legal issues, allocating budgets and financial management using templates and tools.
These workshops will be backed up by a comprehensive website providing the necessary background information, links to the EC sites, training and workshop
material, calendar of events, etc.
The staff of the NCP and the nominated individuals of the Information Focal Points throughout the country have an important multiplier function in terms
of FP7 Awareness and Information Dissemination. Apart from providing information about the FP7 Programme and Calls they are also expected to give advice
when it comes to writing proposals or joining consortia and also help running projects in solving administrative or financial issues. Hence they need to be
regularly trained on general FP7 issues as well as currently open calls. They also need a good understanding of proposal structures and submission
procedures, the evaluation criteria and management issues for running projects.
To enhance the International Dimension by wider international cooperation between research organisations, the PEOPLE Programme has launched the
new International Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES).
This action is aimed at strengthening research partnerships through staff exchanges and networking
activities between European research organisations and organisations from third countries with which the Community has an S&T agreement (as for example Jordan).
Compared to existing Marie Curie actions, which provide mobility possibilities to individual researchers, this new
action will provide support to research organisations to establish or reinforce long-term research co-operation through a coordinated joint programme
of exchange of researcher staff for short periods.
The PEOPLE days organised by EU-JordanNet will be one-day events addressing experienced researchers from all Jordanian universities.
EU-JordanNet will organise a number of training and awareness events addressing researchers, project managers and administrators.
Specifically for researchers are the six 'Thematic Partner Days'
events in Jordan on the
FP7 thematic areas of Health, ICT and Environment.
Each of these 3-day events will focus on Awareness Creation (understanding FP7 and the principle of collaborative projects), Training on proposal
writing (with concrete examples), and Creating Partnerships (brokerage events with European participants.
To create awareness about the various exchange actions for researchers, two events will be held on
the 'PEOPLE' programme of FP7.
Finally, two 'Training Days for Administrators'
are planned focusing on the structural, procedural and administrative aspects of the FP7
Programme as well as on project management, financial and contractual issues for FP7 projects.
